Spotify currently has 345 million active monthly users and 158 million subscribers. This unassuming startup is today the largest streaming service in the world. It reached its first million subscribers three years later. Spotify was launched in select European countries in October 2008. Spotify was created to end music industry piracy and offer a legal (and convenient) way to access music listening. In 2006, two Swedish entrepreneurs, Martin Lorentzon and Daniel Ek, developed Spotify.
